Privacy Policy
Right Hand listens to your conversations. That is an unusual thing to ask of anyone, so this page is specific about what it hears, what it keeps, who else sees it, and how you get rid of it.
Right Hand is made by Dialpad Labs, and is currently in a private preview. This policy covers the Right Hand desktop app, the site at righthandbot.com, and the service behind them. Questions go to support@righthandbot.com.
What Right Hand hears
Right Hand only listens while a session is running, and you start every session yourself. It is not always on. It does not listen in the background, and closing a session ends the capture.
While a session is running, Right Hand can capture two sources:
- Your microphone — what you and anyone else in the room say.
- What your computer is playing — the other side of a call, when you turn that on. On macOS this needs the screen-recording permission, which macOS asks you for directly.
Audio is not stored
Audio is streamed to the transcription provider as it is captured and is turned into text. Right Hand keeps the text. It does not write the audio to disk, and there is nowhere in its database that a recording could live. What is kept of a conversation is its transcript, not its sound.
Everyone else in the conversation
Other people in the room are captured too, and they have not agreed to anything on this page. Getting their agreement is your responsibility, not ours, and in many places it is also the law — several US states and many countries require every party to a conversation to consent before it is recorded or transcribed. Do not use Right Hand where you do not have that permission. See the Terms of Service for the version of this with teeth.
What is kept
- Your account
- Your email address, and whether you signed in with Google or with a password. Sign-in is handled by Supabase Auth. If you use Google, we receive your email address and basic profile from Google and nothing else — no access to your Gmail, Drive, Calendar, or contacts.
- Conversations
- The transcript, when it happened, how long it ran, and which source each line came from. Also what Right Hand made of it: the moments it judged worth interrupting for, the coaching cards it showed you, and the review it wrote afterwards.
- Your context
- The memories you teach it, the people and projects they refer to, and the numerical embeddings used to find the relevant ones. This is the file Right Hand builds about your world in order to be useful in it.
- Usage
- Tokens and seconds of audio per session, so the cost of running the service can be measured.
- Diagnostics
- When sign-in or session start-up fails, the app may send a timing trace with a random installation identifier so the failure can be read in the server log. It carries no conversation content.
Who else sees it
Right Hand cannot do what it does without sending your words to a model. These are the companies involved, and what each one gets:
- OpenAI — audio for live transcription, and transcript text plus relevant memories for the coaching and review models.
- Google (Gemini) — the same, if you choose the Gemini model pack in Settings. If you do not choose it, nothing goes to Google beyond sign-in.
- Supabase — sign-in, and the database everything above is stored in.
- Google Cloud — the servers the service runs on.
- Cloudflare — the domain, and the challenge that keeps automated sign-ups out.
Each handles data under its own terms. We do not sell your data, we do not share it for advertising, and we do not use your conversations to train models of our own.
Recaps you share
A conversation review can be turned into a shareable link. Anyone with that link can read that review without signing in — that is what the link is for, and why it should be treated like the contents of the conversation itself. You can revoke a share, which breaks the link for everyone.
Getting rid of it
You can delete any conversation or any memory from inside the app, and deleting a conversation takes its transcript, its cards and its review with it. To delete your account and everything attached to it, write to support@righthandbot.com and we will do it. Backups are kept by our database provider for a short period and roll off on their own schedule.
Right Hand is in private preview, which means access is granted by invitation and can be withdrawn. If the preview ends, you will be given notice and a chance to export or delete what is yours.
Google user data
Right Hand's use of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. We request only your email address and basic profile, and we use them only to sign you in and to tell you apart from other people using Right Hand.
Children
Right Hand is not for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly keep data from anyone under 18.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that affects what we do with your data, we will say so before the change takes effect. The date at the top of this page is the last time it changed.
